Camden I v NCI IV (away)
14/06/25
CENTURY FOR ROBBO!
100th catch enlivens routine win
NCI IV (3pts) 115 lost to Camden (20pts) 116-3 by 7 wickets
Having lost the toss and been asked to bowl first, the Thirds’ effort at Whittlesford against NCI was indescribable – mainly because your correspondent wasn’t in attendance. Indeed, your correspondent arrived to find that Captain Redfern’s men had already taken nine wickets. Farid (2-18), Subbu (1-19), Karan (1-14), Rizwan (1-23), and Redders (2-7) the men to strike. Two catches for Ketul, one for Hodders, and one for Robinson. Two run outs for Subbu. Those were the facts, but they don’t paint the whole picture. After all, it was Robbo’s 100th catch for the Thirds. And one of Subbu’s run outs was a direct hit from the boundary. With Baker (0-25) twirling away, the home side had limped to 115 by the time Irtaza (1-1) finished things off with a caught and bowled.

With Sutton injured, it was left to Redders and Robinson to blunt the new ball. 14-0 in the eighth over was quite the tribute, and also spoke of accurate bowling and variable bounce. Robinson (3) was LBW to the twenty-seventh ball he faced, bringing Ketul to the middle. Surviving an early chance, the bespectacled batsman was soon into his work. The score had swelled to 55 when Redders was caught for an uncharacteristically stodgy 18 from thirty-two balls. Irtaza had no such troubles, finishing unbeaten on 30 as the Thirds cruised to victory in the twenty-fourth over. Ketul (43) had been caught in the deep by then, leaving the honour of hitting the winning runs to President Mitchell (5*).
